My ex is acting like he still likes me?

he keeps calling me and asking me what im doing and showing alot of love. but he keeps his feelings inside. so when i wonder why the hell are you talking to me when you use to diss me for long periods of time? he go and tell me to shut up..but in a playful way. he knows i still like him but how would we start all over again if we are in a long distance relationship? do you think he's just using me to get my attention..i mean have his cake and eat it to?..should i should go along with this.(?) ooooh or should i just diss him like he dissed me for months at a time? it would drive him crazy because i think he still loves me. after 3 years of being together..i needed counseling when he dissed me at one point because i drove myself crazy and some times i still feel that way..my heart is with him. but as in now we are just friends. i used to go up there to see himevery holiday and in the summertime. i think he misses that.. and he gets exicted on the holidays and he ends up calling me askin where i am. my family lives up his way so when i visit them he's there but he stopped coming and that was near the end of our relationship. he only visited me once knowin that i needed him. i was there for two months for the summer we talked on the fone and he would say he would come but he never came :(. then when i got home we got into a argument that could be worked out,had nothing to do about him dissin me it was just typical but he easily just said forget it and he ignored me for 3 months i chased him down finally. we were then talking again for only 5 days then he ignored me for 2 months. then i seen a wierd number on my phone and i called it every since then he doesnt diss me no more.. i kinda get the feeling that he just wanted to find out what life was like not belonging to anybody(3yrs afterall) kinda like donell jones lol what do you think about it?? and he dated someone when he was dissin me.
