I wouldn't relate it to the Hanged Man tarot card. It was French card makers who named it that without knowing its origin. In the card's native Italy, they did not have their titles printed/painted on them - however, we do have written records that confirm this card to have been called the Traitor. This is why the figure is hung by one leg and NOT by the neck - traitors were executed this way for a long, painful, and humiliating death.
